At the International Christian Mompreneur Network, we’re not making New Year’s Resolutions. We’re choosing a scripture verse to guide us through the year instead. We’re selecting a verse that speaks to our hearts and offers support, hope or motivation for us to live out the following year with purpose and direction. The following is part of a series of posts featuring members of the International Christian Mompreneur Network sharing their scripture verse of the year. We pray these posts will inspire and encourage you to select a scripture verse to guide you through the year as well.
Verse of the Year 2015 by Tammie Polk
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4-12.
When I left my full-time job to pursue my passion to become a homeschool consultant and tutor, I was met with all kinds of criticisms, even from people that I thought would understand what I was trying to do. Even though I’m still in the building stages, God has shown me that this was the right thing for me to do. I stepped out on faith in doing this! One thing I’ve gotten a lot was that I hadn’t been involved in homeschooling long enough to help anyone and let alone try and make my living off of it. No matter what the timespan, I believed that I could still help someone. This is my guiding verse because it reminds me that, even though I’m a young homeschooler myself, I can still serve as an example to those who are either already walking the path or those who are looking at the path and trying to decide whether or not they want to take the path. As a mother, I use this verse as a springboard for teaching my daughters that, even though they are young, they can still show others how to walk in this life. We are all learning the importance of living our lives in a way that is pleasing to God whether anyone is around or not. Whatever verse you choose…whatever path you take…as long as you know God is with you, keep moving forward. Promotion comes from the Lord and He will exalt you in due time! May God bless your 2015!
