Meet Featured Sister Alecia Baptiste

Alecia BaptisteIf you’ve been to the Prayer Cafe, you’ve been blessed by the encouragement of Alecia Baptiste’s weekly devotionals. Alecia is one of those people who showed up in my life at precisely the right time for precisely the right purpose. It was God’s hand at work when she and I connected. She was searching for a way to share her gift and minister to women, and I was looking for a special sister to lead the Prayer Cafe. Don’t you love how God answers our prayers and connects people?

Meet Featured Sister Alecia Baptiste

Business Name: Alecia Baptiste

Alecia’s Story:

I want to have a flexible schedule, especially since I homeschool three of my children, but I also want to be able to use my unique gifts to serve people. I didn’t realize this until recently, but I’ve always had an entrepreneurial bent with a compassionate heart. I enjoy solving problems and coming up with unique solutions to help people. I’m full of ideas!

I’ve always had a heart to help the poor. Through Trades of Hope, we help people to help themselves. We recognize their gifts, their skills and their value as human beings. And instead of “rescuing” them, we partner with them. We provide opportunities for women who would otherwise have no opportunities. We provide hope for real change for these women, their families and their communities. It’s a great partnership and  everyone benefits!

Favorite Scripture:

Galatians 6:9  – “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially those who are of the household of faith.”

1 Peter 2:9 – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Hobbies, interests, gifts:

Strength training, creating art, singing, hiking, going for a run/walk outdoors (that’s my weekly get-a-way with Jesus), reading, writing.

Alecia’s Family:

Husband: Edward
Children: Brian-19, Bianca-16, Edward III- 14, Felecia-12

Greatest challenge as a mom entrepreneur:

Continuing to be faithful to do the work that God has put on my heart to do when my efforts SEEM to produce so little.  At the same time, my family has real needs that need to be met now.

Yet… I press on in faith, knowing that there will be a harvest in due time. For me, the harvest takes place in the lives of those I serve, and in being able to serve them in better ways.

Advice for other mom entrepreneurs:

Balance is like a unicorn.  Everybody talks about it, but no one has seen it.

Embrace your humanity. Things WILL fall through the cracks. You WON’T get it all done. You will make mistakes in your frail attempts to get it all done, but instead of beating yourself up or gritting your teeth and working harder, cry out to our Father. He promises to pour out extravagant, redeeming, I-don’t-know-how-that-worked-out grace into your situations. Only HE can FULLY satisfy every need.  Only HE can bring you REST.  Only HE can fulfill his plans and purposes for you and your family. He will do it!

Why I love being a part of the Sisterhood of Christian Mompreneurs:

As I homeschool mom, I’m surrounded by mostly moms who only homeschool their children. Through the sisterhood I’m able to connect with other moms who are serving others through business. I also enjoy being able to serve the moms of the sisterhood as well.
