Meet Sister of the Month Kelly Garrett

Business Name:
Ekcetera

Business Description:

Stylish and smart graphic and web design for your business success. We work with small business owners and entrepreneurs who are struggling with marketing their small businesses in a stylish and smart way. We help them to design a consistent brand identity, develop their presence on the internet, and create an online strategy so they can have a professional look and overcome their technological challenges in marketing their businesses.

About Kelly:

I have always been very creative. I enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking, photography, etc. In addition, ever since my family bought our first computer when I was young, I was interested and intrigued with the way technology worked. Throughout my education, I taught myself what I needed to know about design and technology. I always knew I would own a business someday, I just didn’t think it would be until after my children had grown. When I was in college, I started to get an itch to own my own business and it became a desire I couldn’t ignore. I decided I needed to persue my MBA to learn what I needed to know about running a business.

Favorite Quote:

“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.” ― Maya Angelou

Hobbies, interests, gifts:

I love photography, travel, and music. I play three musical instruments and sing in our church choir.

Kelly’s Family:

Addy – 3 years, Dane 19 months, Husband Dan

Greatest challenge as a mom entrepreneur:

Making the time for all of the things I think are important in life: growing the business, serving clients exceptionally, spending quality time with my children, teaching them and showing them how much I love them, cherishing my marriage and putting it above everything, strengthening my faith in God, caring for extended family, nurturing friendships, serving my community, making time to refill my own bucket – it’s a challenge to do all of these things well, but I never stop trying.

Advice for other mom entrepreneurs:

Don’t ever lose sight of your priorities. Don’t try to take on too much – it’s so easy to do. Know your purpose for everything you do and if it doesn’t align with your priorities and purpose, reconsider why you are doing it and if you should continue.

Why I love being a part of the Christian Mompreneur Sisterhood:

The ability to connect with other like-minded women is invaluable. No one understands what it’s like to run my busienss better than the ladies of the Sisterhood. When you spend all day alone, making business decisions by yourself, it can be isolating and you start to second-guess yourself. Having your own group of people doing the same thing as you gives you the exact perspective you need.
