Meet Sister of the Month Kelly Frager

Kelly Frager

Ever wonder how to gracefully exit a conversation with someone? Or how to keep a conversation lively? Just ask my friend and sister, Kelly Frager, who is on a mission to make the world a better place – one good manner at a time! As the owner and creator of Etiquette for Everyday, Kelly teaches youth important social skills they will use today and every day for the rest of their lives. Her courses are fun and interactive, focusing on communication skills, social etiquette and table manners.

Kelly is a “graduate” of the Christian Mompreneur Mastermind and one of the greatest moms and entrepreneurs I know! I met Kelly in college and was instantly attracted to her passion for connecting with others and giving 110% to everything she does. These qualities are still very much a part of her life at work and at home. She’s one of those people who always appear to have it together – making the life of a mompreneur look easy. I believe it’s because she’s perfectly aligned with her values and is following God’s call to use her gifts to serve others.

Meet Sister of the Month Kelly Frager

Business Name:

Etiquette For Everyday

Business Description:

I teach social etiquette, communication skills, first impressions and table manners to youth of all ages.

About Kelly:

Four years ago a close friend and I were talking about our own kids and today’s youth. We discusssed how kids with great communication skills and polite behavior completely stood out. After conducting a little online research, I decided to ask our middle school  to host a couple of after-school etiquette and communication skills classes, delivered by the International School of Protocol. Observing the classes, I thought “I need to be doing this!” With my background in human resources and training and extensive volunteering with kids and schools (not to mention being a mom), it was the perfect match!

I received my etiquette certification from the International School of Protocol in February of 2008. My primary focus has been teaching youth, ages 5 – 18 communication skills, first impressions, technology manners, table manners and social etiquette. Having worked in the corporate world before staying at home with our three kids, I’ve been able to connect the skills I know they need in the “real world” with the skills they need as they continue to grow and develop.

I named my business “Etiquette For Everyday” because I want people to know that it is the everyday gestures of kindness, courtesy and respect that deem a person to have good manners. It’s not just behavior that is reserved for country clubs. It’s about relationships and not the rules. I like to think I’m making the world a better place, one good manner at a time! When kids have good manners, all of society benefits for years to come.

Looking into Etiquett For Everyday’s future, the business growing further by  incorporating more adults into my teaching – business etiquette, networking skills, first impressions and interviewing skills for college students and even dining in the business world. I also plan to develop a product – a book, a game, etc. to support parents as they continue to teach their kids at home.

Favorite Quote:

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Favorite Scripture Passage:

Ecclesiastes 3:1  - “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” This is my favorite scripture because I think God plants us where we need to be at that particular moment. I feel like I’m where I need to be right now, focused on what I need to be.

Hobbies, interests, gifts:

I love spending time with friends and family. I love to travel with my husband and with my kids. I love adventures and doing new things. I love my alma matter, Penn State. I love continual learning. I love organizing anything and everything! I love reading – especially historical fiction (Go ahead – just ask me a fact about Henry the VIII!) I love being known as the Mayor of Mt. Airy (it’s an unofficial title bestowed upon me because I “get-around”). I love working out and being dedicated to my fitness. I love learning about health, fitness and eating well. I love being a leader in my community. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I love social events. I love chocolate (had to space that one out from my love of eating healthy – too much contradiction).

Kelly’s Family:

Todd and I have been married almost 18 years. Katie (15) is a sophomore in HS. Megan (13) in 8th grade and Ryan (10) in 4th grade.

Greatest challenge as a mom entrepreneur:

Yikes – I have so many challenges! Juggling. I often say that I can only have so many balls up in the air and sometimes I need to set some down, only to pick them up later. I’ve learned that that is OK. I also think that women who have the drive and initiative to start their own business are typical overacheivers, who are more than likely involved in many things – from church to their kids’ activities to their fitness. We mompreneuers never do things halfway – only 110%!

Advice for other mom entrepreneurs:

The thing I struggle with the most, many of you might relate, is focus. Because of wearing so many hats, it is often overwhleming when you think of all you need to do for ALL these things you’re involved in accomplishing. Break it down to manageable steps so that you can focus on knocking out or mastering one thing at a time, before going onto the next.  When teaching organization and time management , I ask my students, “How do you eat an elephant?” The answer is “One bite at a time.”

Why I love being a part of the Christian Mompreneur Sisterhood:

The Christian Mompreneur Mastermind kept me focused! The modules are insightful. I continually refer back to my modules for guidance, but also for reflective peace. The weekly calls allowed for accountablity and support . It is good to be surrounded by others that support you and that can also relate to being a mom, a woman of faith and an entrepreneuer. Every time I read a module or listened to Theresa and the guest speakers talk on a call, I thought “They HAVE to be talking to ME!”

Being part of such an amazing process was what I consider the first step in my development as a mompreneuer. I am so very thankful for what being part of the Christian Mompreneuer Sisterhood has meant to me.
