Meet Featured Sister Kimberly Beck

Kimberly-e1344890152957If you’ve ever felt less than perfect when it comes to your weight or body style, then you know how painful and difficult it can be to overcome these issues. Several years ago, after a lifetime of playing the yo-yo diet game, I hit the proverbial rock bottom in my personal journey through dieting and eating disorders. It wasn’t pretty. And it wasn’t easy. But through education, prayer and support, I now have a much healthier lifestyle. People like Kimberly Beck dedicate their lives to helping women just like me to discard old beliefs and create new habits. And Kimberly’s biblical approach is particularly encouraging.

Meet Featured Sister Kimberly Beck

Business Name: New Spark Coaching

Business Description: As a life coach, I help women overcome their challenges with food, weight, and body image so they can be more fully connected and available to God and advance toward their God-given, God-pleasing purpose and potential.

Kimberly’s Story:

I had experienced various forms of coaching over the past few years and found it to be extremely beneficial in my own personal growth. Slowly, I began to shift from “This is awesome!” to “I could do this” to “I want to do this” to “I am really doing this!” I took my initial coach training at the Professional Christian Coaching Institute and absolutely loved it! When the time came to choose my niche, I felt God calling me to minister from the place of my deepest weakness. My own struggle with compulsive overeating, obesity, body shame, and depression have stoked a burning passion in me to help women make peace with their body and the food that frees it to thrive. I’ve learned that overcoming these issues requires more than just trying a new diet or starting a new exercise program. It starts from the inside by dealing with the disempowering thoughts and emotions that trigger the destructive habits. Transformed by the renewing of the mind. I inspire, support, challenge, and equip women to overcome their obstacles so that inspired action becomes so effortless, sustainable, and transforming that their life glows with love, joy, passion, and purpose!

Favorite Scripture:

As an easily overwhelmed Mompreneur, I find myself returning to this Scripture again and again: “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Hobbies, Interests and Gifts:

One of my greatest pleasures is crafting fun handmade goodness that delights the eye and nurtures the soul. Design is not only my favorite Pinterest category, but a great passion of mine. Occasionally, I publish a small, handmade magazine called freeFLOW and offer it in my shop at LooxyLab.com along with other creative projects. I’m also a singer-songwriter who prefers to perform in living rooms. A small sampling of my music is available at KimberlyBeck.com. In my non-industrious hours, I enjoy reading inspiring books, drinking creamy tea, and watching quirky, independent, feel-good films.

Kimberly’s Family: On New Year’s Eve, I celebrated my 18th wedding anniversary with my husband, Mark.  I am also a stay-at-homeschooling mama to Evan – now in 3rd grade!

Greatest Challenge as a Mom Entrepreneur: My greatest challenge is dealing with overwhelm.  I want to invest time and energy in family, church, professional, and creative activities, but I can become quickly disoriented and depleted just by looking at a long to do list.

Advice for Other Mompreneurs: I’m learning how to take good care of myself spiritually, emotionally, and physically so that I have optimal energy to invest in my God-given priorities.  I’m also learning how to allow God to shepherd me from one activity to another, focusing on just one task at a time, so that I can flow through my day with more grace, ease, efficiency, pleasure, and satisfaction.

Why I Love Being Part of the Christian Mompreneur Sisterhood: Being a new Mompreneur, I am so grateful for the support of this community of Christ-centered women.  Launching a new business can be scary and intimidating, but knowing that I’m not alone is very comforting!
