"How to Have Hope"

It is so easy for our children to have hope. In fact, their entire day is filled with hopes. They hope to have pizza for dinner, for dessert, for a new toy, for staying up past bedtime, etc.

Sometimes, these things are just wishful thinking, and sometimes their hopes come to fruition.

Do you find it as easy to have hope as an adult? In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us that hope is God is not wishful thinking. Our hope in God can be solid based on His promises!

"Carry each other’s burdens"

Over the past several months, I’ve gotten to know the ladies at my MOPS table. I know about their kids sleep schedules, whose husbands travel for work, their pre-mom lives, etc. But it’s all surface level.

So at the last meeting, 4 women got up and told their truths. They spoke openly about their struggles with postpartum depression, abuse, and post traumatic stress disorder after nearly losing a child. They told their stories so that we would have courage to open up about our own struggles. Then we prayed for each other, and have continued to do so in the days following that meeting.

The keynote speaker said that no one wants to be friends with the perfect mom who has it all together, because we feel shame about ourselves. So then she asked, if we know WE don’t want to be friends with that person, why do we pretend to be that person?

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us that we can help bear each other’s burdens, just like I’m praying for specific women in my MOPS group now that I know their stories. But we can’t do that if we don’t open up and tell our truths.

Mary & Martha

It was my son’s birthday party and I was stressed out. I was running in and out of the house bringing out food, drinks, cake, plates, etc. Meanwhile, my husband was standing around talking to the guests and enjoying the party. Needless to say, I was pretty irritated at him and I’m sure I made some rude comments about how I was missing the whole party.

So when I think about the story of Mary and Martha, I can understand how Martha felt! And just like Martha did, I had lost sight of what was important that day.

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us that when we truly get to know Jesus, our work will take on a new meaning.

No Fear

Do you ever hesitate to start something new because you are afraid you won’t succeed?

We have all tried and failed at something, and sometimes that lingering fear gets in the way of our future. There is no guarantee that we will be successful.

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us not to put our hopes and trust in human efforts, but instead to put our trust in God, knowing that He has a perfect plan.

Putting on the Armor of God

Have you ever had a disagreement with your husband, child, parent, sibling, friend or co-worker? Of course! It’s our human nature to disagree from time to time. But when it goes beyond a disagreement and feels like more of an attack, maybe it goes deeper.

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us we do have an enemy, but if we put on the armor of God, we will be able to see the true threat and defeat it.

Will our work survive?

We mompreneurs know the meaning of “work”. We work on our businesses, we work raising our children, we work around the house. I don’t know about you but I feel like my day is just bouncing from one task to the next.

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us that we can please God even while doing the mundane tasks that no one else even seems to notice.

Peace

There is something so peaceful about sitting in a quiet, dark living room with a Christmas tree lit up in front of you.

Don’t you wish you could bottle up that feeling and pour it out when the stress of the season or life is getting to you?

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us that “Peace is viewing your circumstances in light of who God is, rather than viewing God in light of our circumstances.”

My 7 year old recently told me he wanted to right a letter to Santa telling him that “Christmas is about Jesus. But the presents are nice too!” 🙂

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste reminds us about the holy gifts our Father has given us. She tells us that these gifts are not earned, but rather received. Just as we love to watch our kids on Christmas morning, our God happily bestows gifts on us for us to enjoy.

Prayers for our Nation

eat-pbj-for-easter-dinner-if-it-helps-you-focus-on-the-right-target-3“Ladies, today in our cafe we prayed. We prayed for our nation, for neighbors, co-workers, friends, the church, and even our enemies. I know many are celebrating because of the election, but others are sad and afraid. So we pray. Our God is on the throne. He has always been actively involved in placing leaders in authority. We can trust that he is bringing about his BEST plans for America and the world.

Still… some of our neighbors are afraid. My prayer today focused on the body of Christ coming together in Unity to Love this hurting world. Our light shines beautifully and brightly when we embrace diversity while being unified in purpose. I pray that each of us reaches out to someone who is very different from us in order to uplift them and to seek to understand them. They need your love. You need their perspective. We are stronger and better together!

Lastly, we prayed for all of government leaders. They cannot serve the people of our nation, without divine help.

May the peace of God rule Supreme in your hearts today!”- Alecia Baptiste

God as our Gardener

eat-pbj-for-easter-dinner-if-it-helps-you-focus-on-the-right-targetWhen life isn’t going as you planned, do you ever think “God, where are you? Why aren’t you helping me?”

It’s easy to think God has forgotten us when we are suffering or struggling. But the truth is, God never forgets you and always has His hand on you.

In this week’s Prayer Cafe, Alecia Baptiste explains that God is our master Gardener. He prunes us as needed to help us produce fruit that will bless the world around us.
